Who can resist a good old jackalope? The antlers are hand sculpted and cast by myself. I have made many, many jackalopes in my life, and I have started using cast antlers because a rabbit is a lot smaller than a deer, so real antlers need to be small to keep the proportions right. But I want a full rack, as do any hunter, so these are as realistic as I can make. With the front feet in a jumping position, this jackalope would look great anywhere Made as a proper taxidermy mount, the ears are turned and filled, not just dried and shriveled as many jackalopes are. Along with a proper tan on the hide and mounted on a plaque, this is made to last!

Take care bending front arms too low near the hands, thin tanned skin of this nature does not soften like larger open areas. Don’t risk tearing the hide, but arms are bendable up to elbow. Ok, not sure how to describe this little guy,… He is super soft, posable and made to fit next to your computer or shelf. He has no back legs, just a smooth black critter with a white tipped tail.

Art of Taxidermy
My name is Anna. I am in my mid 50s and have decided to make my art into my business! I have had many jobs though my lifetime, but the need to create art has been there all my life. I was raised on a small family farm and spent my life learning and practicing agricultural science. Through 4-H and FFA in my youth and good old ‘hands on’ experience, I have raised and processed many types of livestock. But rabbits have been my passion.
I started raising rabbits as a child, and have been breeding them since 1977. I started off producing show rabbits and attended rabbit shows across many states for many years. But now, I have stepped away from pedigrees and breed for meat and fur. My breeders are my pets, I love them deeply and they live the best life they can. They produce meat for my family as well as fur and bone for my art. Nothing goes to waste.
As a child on a farm, I was always was fascinated with what was left after livestock was processed. Not wanting to waste anything, I would keep and try to process skins, bones and anything else I could get my hands on. Later in life, I discovered my state taxidermy association. With classes, seminars and help from the pros, I learned the art the right way. I began participating in competitions. The lecturing, critique and judge notes only made my work better and eventually earned the the title Master of Lifesize Small Mammals. Later, as a commercial taxidermist, I couldn’t get myself to toss out scraps and leftovers from customers mounts. Being that I raised market livestock, I gained a whole new world of materials. And then began my novelty work. Unlike other artists who dove into taxidermy without fundamental and basic knowledge of the taxidermy process, including tanning and proper cleaning, I produce artwork that is not only eye pleasing, but are made correctly. Art pieces that are unique and will last.
My business is constantly evolving and expanding. I am learning all about website management and sales, so bare with me as I learn! There will be frequent updates and new items listed. Please understand that this is now my whole lifeline! At my age, health restrictions, and skill level, I cant find a “normal” job (lost my last job of 10 years to new store owners). Bills must be paid and this is my shot at a new life. I hope to grow and offer more items like craft supply items, taxidermy kits, and maybe even online seminars. I generally do not do commission work, but this is due to the nature of my medium. It takes MONTHS to breed, raise and process my rabbits. Colors of hides are sometimes a gamble, as well as quantity…. some rabbits will have 4 babies and some will have 12. As mentioned, my breeders are my pets and I will not cull a doe just because she had a small litter. This impacts my output. Skins have flaws. Tanning process can present its own problems. And unlike fabric, a simple mistake can ruin an entire project. But I am open to requests if I have what you want. Send me a message and I will do what I can to make things happen.
